As the name TEDx shows, “x” is an independently organised TED-like conference through community-based initiative. In more than a 100 languages, TED has encompassed the corners of the world to spread ideas and bring innovation leaders together to inspire the young and old. In Brunei, there is an ever-growing community of youth leaders, entrepreneurs, students, educators, innovators and so on. With Wawasan 2035 on the horizon, there is a unified nationalistic vision that creates a demand to provide an incredible space for inspiration and a place of aspiration through role models and industry leaders. TEDx aims to fully take advantage the power ideas and turn it as a springboard for motivation of initiatives and garner support of Brunei’s well-connected, tight-knit community. With Gadong designated as the focal point of a long-time Central Business District, TEDx debuts itself at one of the centres of Brunei’s still-developing economy. For the first time, we had brought you TEDxGadong this end of August 2014 - the first TEDx community in Brunei. In the future, we hope TEDx will be supported in a number of different institutions in the spirit of TED’s mission “ideas worth spreading”.
